Dreamer...

Daydreamer. Lazy. Classic underachiever. Overactive imagination. My teachers had a way with words on my report cards. Yes, I spent most of my school days staring out the window, wondering what was going on outside the classroom. Waiting for Some Day when I could write whatever I wanted. Poems. Stories. Fairytales. Now their words make me laugh. Tall tales about bums who starved and had to sleep on the subway. They insisted there were boogie men who would get me, so I needed a back-up plan. Something practical like becoming a secretary. What do they think now while reading my words in print? Published by newspapers and magazines nationwide. Hah. Fooled ‘em. What a day for a daydream… I’m blowing the day to take a walk in the sun…(and I) may be daydreaming for a thousand years …{Whistle} (Lovin’ Spoonful).

I began writing angst-filled poetry as a temporary secretary in New York City while waiting for my Big Break. Went to college in Los Angeles for ten years at night to make my escape from the City of Los Angeles Planning Department. Received a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications after studying to become an Elementary Teacher at Florida Atlantic University. Paid my dues in order to become a journalist, travel writer, editor and publicist, not necessarily in that order. Today, I write a blog about my dog, publicity, writing, chronic pain and am co-author of five romantic travel guides. Plus, I’ve been published in more than 40 publications*, including Top 100 newspapers and national magazines. All because I couldn’t earn a decent living as a waitress, secretary or government employee.
