Long Bio

CeliaSue Hecht’s curious (some say nosy) nature started at age six when she became bored with kindergarten. Daydreaming and providing comedic relief got her through elementary school. She also made up stories and poems. It took awhile, but soon, teachers, relatives and neighbors noticed that she had a creative gift, and she has been writing incessantly ever since.

Her dreams of becoming the first woman Mickey Mantle, a diva ballerina, the Nancy Drew of Bayside Queens, a movie star, songstress and ice skating star were dashed due to unforeseen circumstances such as weak ankles and losing her voice the day she tried out for chorus. She did, however, manage to sell a lot of Girl Scout cookies, shelter an illegal cat and cartwheel everywhere she went.

In order to attain her dream of becoming a published writer, CeliaSue sent poems to every magazine and publisher in the New York area, sent resumes and short stories, and even had her poetry stolen from an office building where she temped. Her purse was found in Central Park sans poetry. During the next 10 years, CeliaSue moved 3,000 miles away to Los Angeles, to break into film and instead found a new love: public speaking and seminar leading.

When her father became ill in the 1980's, she moved to Florida, where her love for newsrooms blossomed. She obtained her BA degree and worked on an old Compugraphic as a typesetter/editor/reporter. Her fame in the condos grew by leaps and bounds.

In 1986, she received her first check as a freelance writer after attending an event about learning how to flirt. She wrote about the experience and sent it off to a magazine that soon published it. CeliaSue continued to work as a reporter, editor and typesetter for weekly sister publications and freelanced for daily newspapers and monthly magazines. After her father passed, she traveled around the world for three years with a prayer ministry and returned back to Los Angeles.

Now, CeliaSue has written hundreds of articles for more than 40 publications (top 100 newspapers and national magazines), is listed in Cision / Bacon’s Media Directory, and has co-authored five romantic travel guides. She has also assisted new and best-selling authors as well as medical doctors, entrepreneurs, seminar leaders, health care professionals and chiropractors with getting published, promoting books and coordinating seminars.

Today, CeliaSue travels the United States teaching authors and entrepreneurs how to write press releases that get published, and how to build relationships with busy reporters and cranky editors. She became a publicist in the early 90’s in Las Vegas, when she successfully promoted personal growth seminars and workshops.

As a professional speaker and seminar leader, she shows small business owners and others how to grow their image and visibility step by step, build an online presence through their website, establish credibility, sell more products and services, promote a favorite cause or issue, and become as known as they want to be to the general public and the media.

She lives in Nevada and California...

CeliaSue loves walking on the beach, listening to Kenny G, Enya, Celine, Mariah, the Beatles, reading Jennifer Crusie and Janet Evanovich books, and watching "Without a Trace”, “Ghost Whisperer,” "Psych," "Monk," and old episodes of “Charmed.”

Her goals in life: "To finish writing fiction/romances, get them published, acquire an island paradise (near Hawaii), adopt a menagerie of dogs, cats, horses, and farm animals, swim with dolphins, meet Rachael Ray, Ellen and Oprah and eat and write about as much dark chocolate as is humanly feasible, not necessarily in that order."
